this summer i've slowly become more and more feminist in my leanings
like..i've always believed in equality for women and i've always been a feminist
but this summer i've been reading more things and shaping my views on it
so now if someone asked me, i can quite clearly explain my views on certain things

oh my god my mum just had a go at me for being apparently anti-monarchy and anti-god and being an atheist and i was like wtf you're making me out to be some kind of radical or something and i'm not even anti-monarchy i don't have a problem with the queen or anything i can't be arsed being bothered about her tbh i don't see the point and i'm agnostic not an atheist and i'm definitely not anti-god
i was very confused haha

I live here on my knees as I try to make you see that you're everything I think I need here on the ground but you're neither friend nor foe though I can't seem to let you go the one thing that I still know is that you're keeping me down
i argued with my friend H today.
it was such a silly argument but i stand by it completely haha..basically she said that when she's older she'd get married in a church because churches are pretty and they'd look nice on the photographs
but she's never been christened and she doesn't believe in god.
now i'm agnostic. i believe that, if there is a god, it is beyond our comprehension. i also acknowledge a necessity for a religion of some kind because it is the one thing that links every single society that has ever existed. which religion has got it right, however, i don't believe i have the right to comment on.
bearing that in mind, i still believe that respect is owed to every single religion out there and, to me, it's hypocritical to get married in a place of worship you don't believe in. why would you get married in the eyes of god if you don't believe that god exists?
to me it just doesn't make any sense, a 'pretty building' is not enough it's so superficial weddings are important it's such a massive thing and to me having a ceremony that features things you don't believe in is just..it's like mocking the whole institution but not so serious i can't even explain what i mean.
the whole point of a church wedding is it happens in the presence of god. that's the whole point, if you're not religious you should opt for a civil marriage instead, if you're only concerned about the photographs and how nice it all looks that's not an issue because there are some really nice places with wedding licenses these days
i understood what she meant, that's the thing; there are some churches i'd like to get married in when i'm older but i'd never actually do it because in my mind it's sort of morally wrong considering i have issues with the christian church as an organisation and gah i can't even explain it that well but i know what i mean
and then she had the audacity to call me stupid and naive when she herself genuinely believes that leg hair stops growing in the winter just like the grass does
seriously.
